A message from the Principal

Tena koutou katoa, Greetings.

I am delighted to have taken up my role as principal of Red Beach School!

Prior to my appointment here at Red Beach, I was Principal of Levin North School in the Horowhenua.I have been a Principal since the inception of “Tomorrows’ Schools” in 1989 - which resulted in the governance of schools being handed over to Boards of Trustees.

My own journey into school leadership began with seven years as principal of Porangahau School, a predominantly Maori Primary School in Central Hawke’s Bay. The next six years as principal of St Mary’s Catholic Primary in Palmerston North and then Principal of Levin North School. It has been a deliberate decision to gain a broad working knowledge of the NZ education system. This experience has led me to also take up the position of Secretary of the NZ Principal’s Federation.

I am very excited about my move here to the Hibiscus Coast – who wouldn’t be – it is such a beautiful part of New Zealand!

Red Beach School is a high performing school with a very strong vision that is clearly and consistently expressed by staff and students. Life-long learning is a key element of this vision and both staff and students are actively involved in the core business of learning. The phrase “Red Beach School is a community empowering life-long learners to achieve and make a difference” encompasses all that we truly believe in and value and is the cornerstone around which the school functions.

The school strives to achieve high levels of academic success especially in the key focus areas of literacy and numeracy. Our aim is that all students leave the school with a strong sense of self-belief and a commitment to be a well-rounded citizen of the world.

Parents and those wishing to enroll their child/ren at the school are welcome to contact the school office and make an appointment to talk to a member of senior staff and have a tour of the school.

Naumai, Haere Mai.
